Summit for Salamanders: Mt. Daisen Charity Hike

Lace up your boots and climb for a cause! Support the conservation of the Japanese Giant Salamander (JGS) by joining us on a charity hike up Mount Daisen.

Mt. Daisen isn’t your typical hike. The "Great God Mountain” is a sacred volcano rising 1729 metres from the Sea of Japan in the Tottori Prefecture. If you’ve been to Mt. Daisen then I’m sure you understand that summiting it once is tough but doable. Twice? That's a feat that will make you feel accomplished. Three times? You must be a daredevil! And four or more? Well, that's just plain crazy - but that’s exactly what some of the members on our team are aiming for! Bear in mind that multiple hikes up and down on the same day are entirely optional, and reaching the summit once is highly beneficial and impactful for the cause. It typically takes between 3 and 6 hours in total to ascend and descend the mountain.

We encourage those in attendance to seek out sponsor’s that will donate for each time you reach the top of the mountain. 100% of the proceeds will go towards Sustainable Daisen’s fight to save the salamanders!

Save time communicating with potential sponsors with our pre-written message:
“I'm climbing Mount Daisen in Tottori prefecture on April 29 to raise funds for Japanese giant salamander (JGS) conservation! (DELETE THE FOLLOWING IF ATTEMPTING A SINGLE CLIMB) Actually, I will attempt to climb the mountain multiple times in a day as a show of my commitment to JGS conservation! You can help the cause by sponsoring me with a donation for each summit I make on the 1709-meter mountain. JGS are some of the world’s largest amphibians but they are at threat of extinction. Any amount helps, and all proceeds go to Sustainable Daisen, a non-profit organisation actively engaged in JGS conservation. Check out their website for more information: www.sustainabledaisen.org
Thank you for your support! I'll update you with my summit results after the big day!."

Let your sponsors know how many summits you've conquered by sending them the link below after your hiking day is complete. But remember, donations/sponsorships are entirely optional and we're just happy to have you join us!

Not a seasoned hiker? No problem at all! Optional hiking groups are available for you to join, so you can meet like-minded individuals who share your passion for the environment and the great outdoors. Let's climb for a cause together and make a positive impact on the world!
